The main character in the story, Vashti, is extremely dependent on the machine. “The Machine Stops” argues that eventually, the advancement of technology is in fact going to take over, which will ultimately result in complete dehumanization and individuals will rely on technology solely in order to complete any sort of task. Forster’s “The Machine Stops,” technology has literally taken over the world. We see a change and advancement in society very frequently, which allows individuals to take complete advantage of technology. In today’s society, technology is continuing to advance and people are discovering new ways to use technology at its fullest. ![]()
